Select the suitable generator:
Choose the correct power in kVA or kW: All powers in the table are expressed in kilowatts (kW) and correspond to the power in kVA for a consumer with a power factor (cos fi) of 1.0.
To determine the power in kW that your consumer needs, divide the power of the consumer (in kW) by the power factor of the consumer. For example: consumer requires 6.0 kW/0.8 = 7.5KVA. In this case, a generator must supply 7.5kVA or kW. (a force factor is usually between 0.7 and 1.0)
Generators for electric motors:
If you want to run electric motors with a generator, take into account the start-up peak that these machines require from the generator. For example: water pumps, grinders, compressors, etc. With an unloaded rotor the start-up peak is 2-3 x higher than the current, and with a loaded rotor it is 5-8 x higher. It is therefore important to oversize the generator sufficiently.
